Yes i do. I use slang because it is informal, more relaxing and despite the fact that i have left Nigeria to trinidad to study, i still communicate with my friends throgh Blackberry and we communicate properly with the slang. Yes, i use slang appropriately. I believe i use slang appropriately because it is a dialect that is generally understood by Nigerians. It is like a speech community. Thankyou.

Yes i am an effective verbal communicator. There is clearity in my speech but not totally. I still believe i can do better. Communication is learned.  I demonstrate linguistic sensitivity. The cultural aspect of language difference is very important and helps one to communicate properly regardless of where you are from. I open my mind to peoples differences. I try to b enriched and inspired and in that way the information sticks and my attitude changes towards my participants or receiver. Thankyou.

TOPIC:Four boko haram members killed in Borno Bombing.
Basically,the article is to report the death of some members of a sect group that has been terrorising the nation for a couple of years now. My perseption of the article is that the present security agency is becoming very functional compared to the past security operatives. My perception after reading the article is that there is room for peace and unity once again in the country. Thankyou.

What i learnt from the culture i presented in class is that you never know enough of your culture talk more of someone elses own. Cultures differ a lot. The culture i presented was not strange to me because i am a Nigerian and i presented Yoruba culture which is one of the major ethnic groups in Nigeria. I actually learnt something new and it has influenced the way i communicate because i know much more than i taught i knew.

what i learnt from the in- class presentation of culture is that in studying cultures and improving commuication,there is no room for assumptions. I also learnt that culture is a determinant factor of our way of life.How we talk,respect,what we are made of, our self perception,dressing, interpretation of touch. All this differ from culture to culture. What is accepted in one culture, might not be in another culture. Thank you.

I am a Nigerian. My culture impact the way i communicate in different ways.communication is based on understanding and so i speak a language that is understood by people which is english.my culture help me to use communication to meet my social needs, to enhance and maintain my sense of self, to develop relationship,to exchange information and also to influence others. My culture influences my verbal communication because even though there are lots of indegenous languages,the slang know as brokeing language is understood also by the special community. We use low context culture, that is our words are detailed, direct and specific. Our markings,sign of language and type of meanings is properly understood.
My culture influence my non verbal behaviour in that as a Nigerian,your dress sense means something. The language spoken tells a lot about you.Your physical structure,hairstyle,gestures and illustrators tells a lot about you.
Your facial expression, eye contact, posture helps to know how attentive and respectful you are.  Thankyou

Topic: Crime Watch Probe.
Police request interview with TV6 Directors.
My comment is that there is some sort of misuse of power.
My perception of the article while reading was that ,there was an alleged breach of Telecommunication Act and sexual offence Act committed during the airing of "crime watch programme" on the 24,25 and 26th october 2011, hosted by Ian Alleyne on TV6.therefore a need for an interview with the directors of TV6 news.
After reading the Article,my perception changed because at the end of the article,it was stated that the interview with the Directors of TV6 would not only be in relation to the sections contravened. It was like the police team were not happy with the airing of the programme because it reduces the public confidence in the police. Thankyou.
